Welcome to my shop! I have experience with pottery, books (and cats) and hope I can help you find what you're looking for!
The seat has been newly reupholstered with a heavy brocade and attached correctly to the frame, it has old metal springs with horsehair and fiber inside and is very comfortable.
Measurements: The rocker is 43-1/2” inches tall to the top of the headrest rails. The inside measurement from seat to top of headrest is 27” tall. The seat measurements are 18” wide by 18” deep. The arms on this measure 25” high from the floor. There are 10 spindles across the back with the two edge spindles carved.
Condition: The wood of the arms are very dark on top, proof that this was a well-used and loved chair, which I left alone. There are some scuff marks, along with tack holes where the seat was attached incorrectly, I filled in the tack holes and used some very light stain to match the chair. There has been a repair done to the top headrest. It shows a crack on the top right side going across which was glued and is not easily viewable. I don't believe any further repair needs to be done as it looks like this has been doing a good job.
There are many wonderful details to this great Platform rocker with it’s Stick-and-Ball carved spindles and impressed designs. The back right rocker panel has “PATENT PENDING” impressed into it. The rocking mechanism is of cast iron. The front feet have wheels added for easier transporting.
Truly a great, comfortable piece of usable “Victoriana” for your very own living room! I do have a shipping company that is rather reasonable, so please contact me for a quote. It can also be picked up at my location of Grand Rapids, MI.
As always, thanx for shopping Katiques and please take the time to see my other unusual finds!
