A rare and magnificent French religious banner from the late 19th Century/very early 20th, made for a Madonna procession, in a delicate dusty rose silk, complete with its tassels, rod and brass chain and ready to hang.

The banner is embroidered by hand with couched metallic thread and thick satin floss, and lined with a thin pink cotton.

Delightful French Art Nouveau motifs in the famous Guimard style.

MEASUREMENTS: Total Length with chain and tassels: 43". Length of silk: 29 1/2". Width: 20".

CONDITION: No stains to the silk. Some large but light humidity stains on the cotton at the back.

Fraying of the silk in a number of areas, particularly in the lower left corner. Not really distracting since the lining is done in the same color. In very good condition for its age and material.
