A rare and absolutely stunning mid to late 19th Century Mexican painting (watercolor/gouache) of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, bleeding through a dark crown of thorns against a yellow radiance and topped with light flames and a small black cross.

The work which has a strong realistic Spanish style, expressed by an artist with a deep faith and superior artistic skills, is both austere and incredibly intense.

A very rare piece which will bring a lot of atmosphere to any decor.

MEASUREMENTS: Length: 14 ". Width: 10".

CONDITION: Watercolor on light board. Some natural darkening of the board mostly on the right handside. Anonymous. In very good condition.
